Homestay and High School Matching
- Students accept to be placed anywhere in France depending on where the best match is found.
- The placement is made in matching a student with a family according to various criteria including their common interests, hobbies and activities.
- The student will be given the chance to go to a French school – “collège” or “lycée” – with a host sibling (the French student and the participant may not be in the same class)
School System
French secondary education is divided into two tiers – “collège” for the first 4 years (Yrs 6-9) and “lycée” for the last 3 years ( Yrs 10-12).
In France students spend a lot of time at school. Generally speaking, they start school at 8am and finish at 5pm with a 1-hour break at lunchtime.
During the weekdays, participants will attend all classes whatever the subjects are:
- French
- Mathematics
- History
- Geography
- Arts
- Sports
The aim of this school integration is to discover the French school system, and overall have a social integration with French teenagers. As this program is non-academic there is no pressure on the student to actively participate unless they want to.
Nacel has been refining the art of language and cultural immersion programs, domestic and international, for over 60 years. The variety and quality of our programs underpin our reputation.
